removing a rounded bolt
how can i remove a rounded bolt? i have tried vice grips as tight as i can physically get them but that just keeps turning and rounding the bolt more! please can someone help? TIA

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Buy a set of 'Easy out' . they are in different sizes and have a thread that goes the 'wrong' way. You then select one smaller than your bolt. drill a hole into the bolt, then screw the easy out into the hole, remembering to turn it the 'wrong' way, use the correct sized spanner and keep turning, the bolt will then be unscrewed. Obviously, replace with a new bolt when you have done whatever job you were doing. Good luck!

If it is possible to get a dia grinder in and take the nuts "head off" u should be able to them carefully remove the manifold. If that works be VERY carefully in removing the rest of the threaded bar. If you snap it then you will more thank likly have to take the cylinder head off. Alternitly as TWR says try and heat it up then put another socket on. If you can "grind 2 or more straight edges on it try using an imperial socket e.g 13mm = 1/2 Inch most imperial sockets are very minutely smaller. you might get enough levearge on it. Good luck
