Seat Leon water in rear passenger side footwell

Can anyone/has anyone experienced water ingress into the rear footwell of their car?
The footwell is absolutely sodden, the car is a 53 reg 1800cc hatchback therefore i cannot believe there is a rust problem or deterioration of the bodywork.
Are there any grommets/rubber seals underbody? that could be loose or missing?
The front passenger side door seal does seem to allow a small amount of water in at the front on occasions when there is v/heavy rain but it is the rear footwell that is soaking not the front?
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When you open the rear doors after heavy rain, is there a small amount of water lying on the rubber seal at the bottom of the door-frame? This is a well-known fault on another VW-group car (Skoda Fabia). Instead of going right down to the drain-holes, the water finds a way through faulty sealing material behind the trim panel and onto the door-seal and into the footwells. Cars affected are a similar age to yours. I know it's a different car, but they are "sisters". Trim panels need to come off to replace faulty sealer on Fabia.

A few things can cause this Outtheway, has the car had a rear window seal? the Hatch door seal, water coming forward from the boot, as you said, door seal, check under the car for loose rubber floor plugs, IS the water coming from the rear? or are the drain holes blocked under the bonnet below the windscreen? has any windows at the rear been left open? are the door lined up right to the striker plates on the door pillars? the body seam itself, ( I had this on a car we once owned)

Hi, no problems, myself & very many others are here to help, a lot of people look in the wrong place when the find the Carpets are wet, if they are saturated you will find the car Misting up especially now as the temperature drops in-turn causing the inside to freeze up, before you start the procedure sit inside the car & get either your Wife / or family to blast the cars windows from the furthest back them make your way around the car, you may find that you have sought the cause within Min's rather than hrs, Good Luck.

I should have said, blast with a hose pipe.

Floor paint-drain bung misplaced
Sunroof (if it has one) drain pipe blocked causing leak.
