T-Cut

I have carelessly scratched the surface of my wife's new car, when trying to remove a couple of ground in stains  - I very gently used a scouring pad, which I usually use for her alloys!!

This has left the surface of the bonnet and roof with surface scratches in the circular motion which I cleaned.

They are not deep, but just look a bit unsightly, particularly as her car is a nice metallic silver colour.

Should I use T-Cut to remove these marks?  Do I then have to use Turtle Wax afterwards?

I was told not to use T-Cut on my car but instead to use Autoglym Super Resin Polish, which is much gentler but still polishes out minor scratches. After using Super Resin Polish, you then wax as usual.

Unless you have a powered buffer to use with it, T-cut is quite difficult to get a good result with on a larger area such as you describe. Try Meguires Scratch X, (www.Meguiarsonline.co.uk) which is much less abrasive and kinder to the paint. Then, yes, you need to re-wax the paint properly, Meguires again supply some excellent waxes to do this.

WHY did u use a scourer???, there is no way you will cover those up with t-cut or any other polish, take it to a bodyshop and ask if they can do anything, they have what is called cutting polish which will lift a layer of the damaged paint off, but be warned, the scratches may not appear deep but exessive polishing could remove the paint as far down as the primer, especially something like t-cut. and cutting polish, you may nee to get it painted, silly silly man.....scourers on a polished surface....... argghhhhhhh!!!!

I had quite a big scratch down the length of my car and tcut worked perfectly. Was really awful, but now no mark at all, no problems with paint surface. Would recommend!
