Do you think this is a reasonable price for a service?
I have a VW Touran and it's due its first long life service which has to be done by a main dealer as the car is leased. They have quoted £70.65 labour, £69.36 parts (how do they know which parts it will need?), £7.85 labour replace dust & pollen filter and £12 for that actual part. With VAT thats a total of £187.84 presuming it doesn't need anything else doing which I'm sure I won't be that lucky! What do you think?

A regular garage will employ "general" qualified staff, however they are probably more than capable of performing the above work just as well.
Other considerations are a full VW service history might increase the value of the motor when selling.
I have a mercedes which went in for a B service this year, wait for it -£745.50 and there wasnt that much wrong with it (new brake pads, 2 new tyres and a couple of plugs replaced plus general service if I recall)
With that you do get quality service and the use of hire car free of charge for the duration.

Tyres alone on mine were £119 each. But you cant put part worns on a performance car. When I think about the up keep, I wonder whether it is worth running a car like mine. But just sometimes, on a quiet country road or on a long motorway journey, it all falls in to place and it is worth it - JUST...!
Perlease, that is dirt cheap, they know what parts because they know what needs changing for a Toerag service, stop whinning that's a deal. Last week I paid £200 for a lin tyre and that was £20 cheaper than Micheldever! Where is this garage? They are charge about a third of what a VW main dealer would charge per hour. Believe me that's a deal, let me know what sort of job they do.
You do NOT have to have it done at a main dealer. The Block Exemption Regulation (BER) gives consumers the freedom to choose where to get their vehicle serviced without negating warranties, as long as original parts (or those of the same quality) are fitted by the repairer.
Having said that, it's a good price as others have commented.

Erm I don't think I'm whining (or should I say whinning?) about this. I asked a genuine question as I have no idea how much a service should cost and wanted to know other's opinions on the price which now I do. Thank you (for the helpful comments) The car is leased but as I don't have a maintenance plan you still have to pay for services. It also says in the contract that services and repairs etc have to be done at a main dealer using genuine parts.
