Can someone
please tell me why people in traffic jams or at traffic lights sit there with there foot on the brake? Blinding everyone in the car behind.
While that annoys me as well, Supapapa, I'll point out that it might actually be a sticky microswitch under the brake pedal which is causing the problem. Only last week I had to replace the brake switch on my Escort because my brake lights had a nasty habit of staying lit for some time after I'd removed my foot from the pedal.
Even more worrying is a trend I have noticed for having brake lights fixed to be on all the time. After seeing several cars driving around with all three brake lights glowing, i happened to follow one into a car park the other evening. When I appraoched to tell the driver of this 'fault' I noticed the crapmobile also had little blue lights and other junk stuck about it. The female driver grinned when I informed her of her faulty lights. "Yeah, cool aint it" She said. Not so cool if she gets rammed by someone not noticing her braking.
I have been on an advance driver course Through my job and the instructor taught us handbrake on and brakelights on as well, I questioned him with the exact same question about dazzling the person behind and he said that if it bothered them THEY were too close ........Food for thought ......
When I had just passed my test in 1980 I rolled back into the car behind when I took my foot off the brake when the traffic started moving. Luckily the man behind was very nice about it. I always use the handbrake even now!
