Most likely a nackered CV joint.

Any idea how much new would cost and fit?
Not really Carlton. Obviously a main dealer will be costly. I would phone round a few garages in your area and ask for a quote.
I am having CV joint on my Mondeo replaced on Monday. It is being done at
a garage owned by a friend and he got three quotes for the part. Ford wanted about
£120; one motor factor wanted less than £30; and another about £50 . He said the cheapest option might last the warranty period. So I settled on the £50 one. The labour is about an hour so possibly another £50 upwards depending who you go to.
