I have just read the article found by Chuck.
Renault Lagunas have "hands free key cards" which unlock the car as you approach them, but that's all they do, unlock or lock the car, they have a push starter button but the push button will not start the car until the ECU has read the code in the key card which has to be inserted in the key slot reader and verified .
surely other hands free cars have this facility.
There is one thing you have to be aware of though, some Renault drivers have been caught out by leaving their car on their drive at home, walking into the house and leaving the key card in the house to close to the car meaning the car is now sitting there unlocked!

The mistake here is to assume that because one car manufacturer has been dumb all of them have been.
Although that may be the case.
Certainly the key systems I use to access my company's network are time based and will change the id every minute or so.
Any using such techology would only have a minute to get from you with the code and unlock the car.
I'd hope the higher end companies wouldn't be so stupid as to have a simple static ID
