Hi Josephine,
Of course I will come along to look at a car. You should bear in mind that you can't expect to find a £5000 car for £1500 - some people do you know! However, I will check that the car is in good mechanical condition, roadworthy, will probably be reliable and will certainly be worth the money you are paying.
You should also note that there are some very good and reliable cars for sale for less than £1500 provided someone knows what they are looking at. You have as much chance of being ripped off for £5000 as you will be for £1000. If you buy a cheaper car then you will have some money left over for a good service and the few little things that all cars need when they first arrive. I would also say that if your daughter is 17 she will almost certainly have some knocks and scrapes which won't matter quite so much in an older car. Older cars are also much cheaper to run than these later ones of course.
There are plenty of cars for sale locally in the Bucks Herald every week. If you let me know what sort of car you are looking for then I will look there this week. I'll then go and see the car or meet you - whatever you want to do really. If you see a car nearer to you then I'll happily drive out and look at it wherever it is.
I wouldn't want any money though J. I've always checked cars for my neighbours and other people I'm just happy to know they've got a good car for the price they paid and they haven't been taken for a ride. I should also like to point out that my wife will probably come along too as she can't be left by herself.
Hope to speak to you soon Josephine.
Andrew.
