Hi guys, I have just been quoted £962 to replace/repair? a leaking air conditioning pump by my Main Ford Dealer. Needless to say I have not had it done. My car is a 51 plate. Any suggestions as to how I could resolve this problem any cheaper? Thanks.

When you get it fixed run it once a month - even in winter - most common cause for pump failure is front pulley seal leaking, sat over winter with no rotation, with the shaft rusting then when used in early summer abraiding the seal and hence the leak of gas
First of all Jock you have gone to the wrong place regards cost, any family run garage will do the job for you for 1/2 the price, start looking for a recon unit of EBay and the likes, there is a site called Euro Car parts check with them, type in your car & follow the online instructions, also type in 247 car spares F.O.C. give them your all your cars details details, they have a network of dealers mainly scrap yards through the UK who will contact you via your phone, there is also a site called Part gateway try them, other than that, check your local yellow pages for a Air Con specialist in your area.
I'll do it for £960 incl.
Take to local Aircon specialists. Teel them you want depressure, then re-pressure after you replaced pump.
Buy a pump from a breaker .. like here ..

Take to small local garage/workshop and ask them to replace it.
Take back to Aircon place for fill and setup.
I doubt will cost you more than £300.
