ive bought a car from a disqualified driver, does this mean i'm going to be pulled by the police on a regular basis for checks even though its in my name from now on?? please help??

I believe they are pretty good at spotting faces of banned drivers, rather than their cars. I think they have a rogues gallery of mugshots at the station and study them.

Even if they do stop you, carry your driving licence to confirm identity. I bet having pulled you once and been proved wrong the message will go round the local traffic boys.

Because the police always check the drivers identity by radio/computor before pulling a car over so they know who they are dealing with, as you will now be the registered owner they should leave you alone.

AS for the local traffic police, they have been phased out in favour of speed cameras.
