Speed camera
22 Answers
I passed my driving test about 2 weeks ago and was driving a car that wasnt mine an i wasnt insured! I was driving on a road near my house, i was going 35-40mph on a 30 zone, i was approaching traffic lights with a speed camera (on green), i slowed down to 30mph.. i looked up from checking my speed and RED light!! I was already past the line so i stayed on course and checked my speed again and i was going 35-37mph! What will happen now if ive been flashed?? how long does it take for the fine to arrive through the door??

You will get a letter saying you where caught speeding at such a place date and time and the speed you where caught at.
The letter will state do you accept or want to appeal i accepted it.
At the time i got i think was a 40 and 3 points this was a couple of years ago now.
And get some insurance
What ever happens was it worth it.A child could of ran out then you would of been in a mess

Probably not a speed camera. It would be there to do you if you jump a redlight, which by your description you did.
Did it flash?
If you only passed your test two weeks ago, what on earth were you doing zooming up to traffic lights at 37? Did you learn nothing?
The first you will know is when the registered keeper gets a letter asking who was driving.
You will get points, and I hope it brings you to your senses.
Many people do modify their driving when they receive their first points. I did when I got my only 3 points for speeding12 years ago. Clean licence ever since.

as a fleet manager I have seen fines arriving 2-3 months after the violation occurred. So Alexjohn, you could be in for a long and nerve racking wait.
If you admit that it was yourself driving you will get point and definately a ban. If you get 6 or more you will be automatically banned, due to the new driver 6 points and your out rule.
In all honesty mate you deseve all that is coming to you for speeding, running a red light and not being insured. all that asside, there may be a way out for you on this one.....
When you get the fine, you can actually state that you were not the driver. Find some one that is willing (if possible) to take the points and state that they were driving your vehicle at the time. You pay the fine for them and they take the points. This will not put you in their good books but will save you the drving ban.
