- driving without a valid license (not 17 yet)
- driving without insurance, but parents both have insurance
- take the car without permission

but without speeding, crashing or hurting anyone??

Parents having insurance has no relevance to whether the person who stole the car has insurance.

Suppose we should be grateful that no-one was hurt and nothing damaged.

Strangely - points are awarded for driving without a licence - and people can be banned from driving for a period, preventing them getting a licence when they are old enough.

Thanks for the answers people. Just for your information though i am not a wreckless driver. I'm very mature for my age and only drive to gain experience to help me with my test. I don't drink or take drugs and follow all of the road rules. I haven't been caught and don't plan to either.

please explain how taking a vehicle without permission and driving when under the legal age limit are the actions of a 'mature' person?
You may believe yourself to be a very good driver, but what if a child stepped out in front of you or someone hit the car you were driving?
Just wait until your birthday and then take lessons or a test, do it the legal way.

OK i agree that taking the car out isn't very mature and risky, but i never usually do things like this. Besides when i go out its at early dawn where i doubt hardly anyone would be out on the road. Regardless my concentration would be much better as i drive more carefully just in case something does happen. But your right, its only a month untill my birthday so i might as well play it safe. All endorseable offences may be applied to the driving record of a person not holding a valid driving licence.

When a person is convicted of a driving offence by a court in Great Britain the court sends the DVLA notification of the endorsement. If the driver does not already hold a driving licence a record will be set up for them at the DVLA. If the driver is eligible to apply for a licence, and does so while the endorsement is still valid, then the endorsement would appear on the driving licence.

Ethel, i know what im doing is wrong. Thanks for helping me to understand the situation better but really i dont think im invinsible (otherwise would i have been asking for advice??). But i really don't understand why you think that just because im gaining experience illegally, that im a bad driver.

I was involved in a fatal accident in July 2000. The other driver lost control because he hit a patch of diesel in the road and careered straight in to me. He died in front of me.

If that can happen to a 40 year old driver with years of driving experience, why shouldn't it happen to you? I am an OAP with many many years experience driving all sorts of motor vehicles, including big cars and motorbikes. If I had been inexperienced, my reaction may have caused more deaths or injuries.

No matter how careful you are - you never know what another driver is going to do. It takes experience and knowledge to react properly and safely.

You believe it couldn't happen to you. You must do, otherwise you would not have driven in the circumstances you did.

You deserve everything you get. If you suit down and think of all the possibilities of your actions (killing a child, mother , father etc etc) you will i am right.

To answer your question, you will be fined, you CAN get points that will be added to your licence if and when you get it. If and when you get a l;icence or you OWN car, your insurance will be so high you wont be able to insure even a skateboard.

I'm sure you'll all be glad to know that i have stopped taking the car out. I won't be driving anymore until i start my lessons legally. My parents also know because i owned up to what i did.
