giving driving lessons

Someone asked me if I could give them extra driving lessons, this person is already with an instructor but wanted more practice. Do I need to add this person to my insurance?

If he or she will be driving your car, then yes.

Assuming that the person will be driving your car, and not just watching you do it, then you most certainly need to add them to your insurance. If you do not do so, you are risking a large fine, 6 to 8 points on your licence and possible disqualification. If the person has their own insurance that covers them to drive your car, I suggest that you still add them to yours. Their insurance will only give them minimum cover.

It was only going to be short term lessons. Can you add drivers with provisional license to my insurance?

Do not accept payment for driving lessons unless ou are a registered ADI. It will be illegal.

As it impossible for us to know who your insurer is, you will have to contact them for advice, and the additional charge.

I am sure you know you must have held a full driving licence for at least three years before you can accompany a learner driver.

Oh, no payment at all and yes, I have my license for more than 3 years.

some insurance companys add an addittional driver at no cost. What about money for petrol ? can someone accept money for petrol if using one's own car ?
