i am getting a new car on sunday . The car is a pre - reg so it is already registered with dvla. I have sent the garage a insurance cert starting on 1.7.07 and i asked the garage to tax it from 1.7.08 They tell me they cannot get the tax till monday because the 1st falls on a sunday and my insurance cert is not valid at the time of getting my disc. Has anyone come across this before.Thanks.

why have you asked the garage to tax it next july 08,they cant tax it till monday, its not allowed on sundays,we have the same sytem at our garage,as we do it in house now,and monday to friday are the only days we can tax a new vehicle on the sytem.
They are wrong:

The certificate or cover note must be valid on the date that the new licence comes into force, and indicate that it covers the use of the vehicle by the licence applicant.

They could buy the tax today - it won't be valid until your insurance starts.
