turning left at a yellow box junction

If turning left can I stop in the yellow box if my exit is not clear eg. ajunction has a crossing 10metres after turning left.

No, your exit must be clear for you to enter. You can only stop if waiting to turn right, as you are waiting for the oncoming traffic to cease

you cannot enter the yellow box junction unless the exit is clear. if the exit is not clear then you must wait before the box junction.

Perhaps Merlin and Ahmskunnirt should have looked at Pigletion's link before posting their answers. Rule 174 clearly states (quote) ''you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic''

lol when I was having lessons , my instructor used to bark that rule at me a lot, have they changed that recently then? I dont think my instructor was wrong, maybe he was?? maybe he wanted me to fail??

cazzz there is a very busy box junction just around the corner from me, and if you're signalling right and you don't enter the grid you don't half get stick from the drivers behind you....

i have always drifted into the box when I have been turning right, although I used to think it was wrong (because of instructor) and I used to always feel a bit guilty for doing it, now I will drift with impunity

er cazzz remember you can only do this if it is oncoming traffic which is holding you up......this is quite important.

Heathfield. Perhaps you should have read and understood my reply fully before jumping in feet first. Part of item 174 states 'You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear.' Please note the last word. My original reply does clearly state '....exit is NOT clear....'
