Points on license

I've received a speeding fine and reading the letter it states that 8 points will get you banned. I always thought it was 12 - when did it change?

There was some talk about it but I didn't think it happened - it's still 12 points under totting up on the DVLA website.

passed my test in 1987. The letter said I'll get 3 points

It's definately 12 for totting up. Sure you read it correctly?

I've posted it off now R1. It definitely said 'you're not allowed to exceed 8 points'
