Belfast Safest City For Drivers

Along with beautiful scenery and convivial residents it seems that Ireland has some of the safest roads in Britain as well. Recent motor insurance research has shown that Belfast is the safest place to drive in the UK.

Belfast city residents are 45 per cent less likely to make a motor insurance claim than drivers in the rest of the UK, said the research. This is good news for inhabitants of the leading Northern Ireland city. This can also be an incentive for driving tourists who are worried about having a prang abroad.

But despite the enviable motor insurance claim rate, drivers in the region pay up to 30 per cent more for their motor insurance than in the rest of the UK, making it all the more important to search for the best motor insurance quote.

"We believe that this is largely the result of greater safety awareness amongst drivers, coupled with effective national and local action to address the issues of motor safety," said a motor insurance spokesman.

The city was also the seventh safest in the UK for car theft. London topped the motor insurance accidental damage claims league, while Leeds has the most theft.
