Creature Comforts Essential Say Business Drivers

Car gadgets that help ease the stress of driving, improve safety and cut motor insurance quotes are becoming more and more essential to business drivers says a new report.

Almost two thirds of business drivers polled told motor insurance researchers that their car was a home from home as they spend more time behind the wheel.

Satellite navigation systems were found to be the most popular gadgets, followed by air conditioning, CD players and the humble cup holder.

Driver airbags, hands free mobile phone kits, climate control and good quality sound systems were highly rated for comfort factor and safety considerations, as well as motor insurance causes.

Essential safety features not on prominent display such as ABS braking, stability control and radar controlled cruise control escaped business driver's notice however, although they may now be legal and motor insurance requirements.

The research also found that a fifth of business drivers said that the offer of a better car would make them consider changing their jobs.

"The company car still remains a significant part of any staff recruitment and retention package and we are aware that employees are becoming ever more selective and demanding," said a motor insurance spokesman.
