Land Rover V8 Lives On

Land Rover is a true British brand. The company has been making its sturdy reliable vehicles for over 60 years. It is estimated that two-thirds of all these incredible vehicles are still at work – many of them in some of the most extreme conditions and inhospitable places on earth.

Land Rover has passed on the long legacy of its Rover V8 engine to West Country company MCT to carry on production. Although the engine is no longer used in any Land Rover models, there is still a huge demand for parts among long-lived Land Rovers. MCT already supplies engines to Caterham, Ford, General Motors, Isuzu, LDV, Mitsubishi and Subaru.

"We are delighted to have been selected by Land Rover Ltd against strong global competition," says the managing director.

"This shows that small and medium British manufacturing and engineering companies can compete for high-end added value projects because of our high quality skills, flexible manufacturing environment and know how."

The Rover V8 has had a long and illustrious history, providing the powertrains to Rovers Land Rovers, Range Rovers MGs and Triumphs.  Countless kit cars have relied on them, not to mention Morgans, TVRs and Westfields, and an Australian firm even developed it for use in the Brabham Formula 1 cars of the 1960s.
