Location Can Lower Your Motor Insurance Premiums

People who live within a mile of a restaurant are 30 per cent more likely to have an accident than other drivers, claims motor insurance research.

Good news for people who live within a mile of a church, however, who are 10 per cent less likely to have a road accident than those further away.

Risky locations to live in for traffic accidents include mile radiuses around grocery stores, schools and banks, says the recent motor insurance research.

Some of the safest locations turned up by the survey were houses within a mile of an airport, forest or race track.

The motor insurance researchers admitted that although they can track the incidence of accidents to work out risk, they frequently have no explanation for why crashes happen where they do.

"Traffic patterns and density are often key considerations when selecting sites for restaurants and grocery stores," said a spokesman for the company.

"There are also comparatively fewer homes and apartments, and generally lower vehicle use, close to parks and forests. But who would have thought it is more dangerous to live by an elementary school than a liquor store? Or a bank versus a hotel?" he added.
