Peddlers
2 Answers
I often wondered if I had imagined it but I am sure I saw The Peddlers in a social club in Newport, they were due to appear in Cardiff the following day at a much bigger venue. I have just read on a site dedicated to them that they often performed at small venues - so perhaps I did see them. In particular I remembered the drummer who kept a fantastic solo going far longer than most could. Any other Abers remember them?

It's quite common for bands to play a small club before a big date or tour - it gets them into shape and irons out any glitches in the set in front of a live audience.
Some musicians do it for pleasure, I remember attending an end-of-term ball at Keele University in 1980 - I think - and the headline band were Doctor Feelgod rockin' like good 'uns in the ballroom.
The few who kew about it - around seventy people, were crammed into the TV lounge upstairs where a blues fan and a few friends were rattling through some bluies standards - it was Robert Plant And The Honeydrippers!
