Just wanted to share this because it's the most astonishing thing I've ever heard. Have to say from the outset it's not an easy listen - the piece was written as a tribute to victims of 9/11, and Wooten achieves the sense of chaos of the attacks by monstrously un-tuning the bass and spending 8 or 9 minutes literally thrashing it to pieces. But, leading to roughly the 12-minute mark, he sneakily begins re-tuning while continuing with the chaotic hammering.
So, for the musos out there (!), make a note of the key in which he starts the main melodic theme at the beginning - then listen again as he returns to it after 12 minutes. It is utterly unbelievable.

May I draw your attention to last month's issue of Bass Guitar Magazine, which carries an extensive interview with Victor - it's fantastic!

I know, because I wrote it!
