problems viewing recorded DVDs

I just purchased a DVD recorder and recorded a movie, but it cannot be viewed by another DVD player. This is the first time I do this; the movie can only be played in the DVD in which it was recorded. NOTE: the DVD recorder and the other DVD player are new 2-weeks old. Please help.

After recording you have to finalise it-it should play then.
