Wow - first ever 'gigs & clubs' post?

Do we have many music fans here who regularly go to gigs? What was your last one, and what have you got lined up?
Last one for me was Fall Out Boy in Manchester a couple of months ago, and I’ve just bought tickets for Simple Plan’s March gig in Manchester – can’t wait!

"Unknown origin" according to dictionaries.

The Stone Roses thing only appeared after posting. When I clicked on the sub-category in the sidebar nothing was listed. Still, wasn't trying to claim a prize or owt.

The term has certainly been around a long time (I remember Mott the Hoople singing Saturday Gigs in the early 1970s) but i don't know the origins ogf the word

Branford Marsalis was the last one (Jazz sax player.) Next year - Beverley Knight and Bonnie Raitt in the same week.

"Gig" has been around since the beginning of the Jazz scene in the 20s as far as I know.

I've never noticed this subsection before. My last one -if you can call it a gig - was Jet Harris from the Shadows a couple of years before he died. He was fantastic. He was a friend of my OH. Such a lovely man.
