I think its just as well they are hanging up their hats after this, I think the Rolling Stones could learn from that too. David Bowie was faultless, during his set there but he actually didnt bore us with all the new out of touch crap he releases, it was the good stuff we wanted to hear (although not one sodding tune from Labyrinth)...... I also pegged it off the hill as soon as he hit that last note to catch the end of Basement Jaxx!
Im mostly all about the guitars but this is one of my best ever Pilton moments everererer.....and LEgend lol I was off my face. It was by far the loudest set I have ever heard.

I remember one sunday afternoon, lying around in the grass (the year escapes me) and Willie Nelson was on, my friend was very excited about this. I snoozed through most of it and then jumped up because I knew a song, he had finished and they were just playing music between sets. Everyone else did the same thing too.
Going to see burt bacharach too was much fun, he couldnt make it last minute so David Gray filled in. It was wonderful.

I have to agree with Goodsoulette and The Prophet - the essence of Glastonbury is diversity. A festival is a chance to see bands you like, and bands you don;t know, but may like - it's all part of the festival experience.
Seeing band after band that you know and love gives you sensory overload, and s you simply cease to appreciate them, so wander around and check out someone you don't know - thus is good music spread around.
