My son(15) has asked me to take him to these in November. Anyone seen them live? Any comments?
Also being a bit of an old crumbly at 49, my last live concert was Elvis Costello in the 80s - any tips or do's and dont's for live concerts these days?

A old crumbly? At 49? Nonsense! Get out there and BOOGIE!
A crumbly at 49 - no way!
They are a down-the-line indie band, so they won;t attract any seriously weird fans to their live shows. You won't stand out at all. Just stand about half-way back and watch your son ignore you if he meets any of his friends.

It is rare indeed for a lad this age to even accept that his parents still like modern music, much less go to gigs together, so make the most of it!

If he wants to take you to a Nine Inch Nails gig you will need -

some piercings
some tattoos
some red braids woven in your hair
black tee shirt
black combat trousers
black eighteen-hole Docs
some eyeliner
black nail varnish
serious attitude

and then you'll blend right in!

many thanks for all your answers. I'm looking forward to this concert now. My son has said I must stay at the back and not wear anything that may embarass him - I said, are jeans ok,he said yes, so that is ok!

There will be a lot of teenagers in skinny jeans and plimsoles, excitedly chatting about homework in the queue! However there will also be 20,30,40 somethings and more also appreciating the gig, you'll get no hassle, cos you'll be considered a die hard music fan, and be rewarded an unspoken respect for being there at your crumbly age. And they are a decent live band I've heard. I work with the lead singers sister, and funnily enough none of us at work knew, until a colleague mentioned he'd bought the album to me in earshot of her, and she said The pidgeon detectives? that's my brothers band!
