Refused entry to concert

Having purchased 2 tickets for last sundays Justin Bieber gig in Manchester and travelling 200 miles from cardiff to get there, we were refused entry and told the tickets were void, contacted seatwave and said they can issue a refund only if I can obtain written confirmation from the manchester arena confirming they refused entry, called the arena and asked and they said they cant help and that i wasnt the only person contacting them that day to ask for such a thing for seatwave.
any ideas where i can go with this?

I'm not familiar with seatwave, but are you sure they are a legitimate ticket agent? It might be worth you while checking them out and then, if they appear dubious, contacting Trading Standards who will be able to advise you further.

I would contact trading standards, even if they can't help directly they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Can I ask why were the tickets deemed invalid?

when they scanned the ticket barcode it just came up as void ticket, they asked where we got tickets from, we said seatwave and were told to contact them. we have used seatwave before twice with no problems.

Seatwave is just a middle man and it clearly states in the terms and conditions that any contract is purely between buyer and seller.

Unfortunately what seemed a good idea when first started has quickly become a vehicle for touts and fraudsters to do business away from the venues and therefore away from the police.

By the time most people realise they have been scammed the fraudster will be long gone with all your hard earned cash.

Seatwave are not an official ticket seller, more like an "ebay" for event tickets.

Most venues and artists list official ticket sellers on their web sites, so if you buy from seatwave you are taking the same risk that you do when you buy something from ebay.

Your only hope is to get proof from the concert arena that you could not use the tickets.

After all for all seatwave know it could be that you could not go to the event for some reason and now want to get your money back. They need proof you could not get in.
