In my post i dont wish to dishearten you. Glad you have the confidence and talent in singing. However recent TV shows targetting such talent, shows that there are many many good singers around the country. However what they lack is the ability to write songs. You could develop your talent by learning to write songs. the ability to crate music requires a very thorough background in the basics of reading and writing music. If you do not have this basic knowledge try and get it from your school or from private lessons and pass the grading exams. This is best done when you are young. With this under your belt you will gain the platform to develop your creative side and write songs. Consult like minded people of your age. Form a band. dabble in music. Get creative. Just do it for the fun off it and give it your best. get yourself a good education as well, dont ignore that part of your life. If you are lucky you will succeed. all the best.

You need time, and energy. Be energetic. Don't be afriad to choose a 'means to an end' approach - like joining a church choir or something - even if it's just for a couple of months. You'll find you will meet people who may open other avenues for you.

I agree in part with the previous post - Good singers understand musical theory - Get yourself a keyboard (or guitar - cheaper but harder to start with) and a good, easy to read book (it should make you smile when you read it, if not don't buy it). Learn scales.

Great Singers - this is all down to the quality of the voice - it has to sound like you and only you - yet cool as well. You either have this in you or you don't.  A great 'untrained' singer will be able to sound brilliant once in a while, and hit bum notes for the rest of the time. A great 'trained' singer will sound great 99% of the time. Beware singing instructors. most will make you sound like a 'good' singer.

You didn't mention song writing, so I'll not comment on it.

unfortunately living in a small lancashire village (like i do)- there is'nt many opportunities to show off your talent.

You really need an agent based in manchester or preston to get behind you.. Good luck thought ;)
