my wickle baby boy will soon be 18 and we would like to get something special. He is in a metal band, doing quite well, locally, and he lives and breathes music. he's studying triple music at college and has a few guitars.
Has anyone any idea what we could give him??
He has a dean razorbak, and an ML, and BC rich flying V. He has second hand behringer and randall amps.
He has mentioned some sort of fx pedal but i would like it to be a surprise., and wouldn't have a clue as to what kind (he does already have one)!

I went to a Craft Fair recently and there was a stall there for this company, the stuff looked really nice. http://www.gifticuffs.com Might be something there, if not as the main pressie, maybe as a little extra something.

300 ish? maybe a lot more if grandparents chip in too!
A G String? (could make a good silly pressie though if he has a good sense of hunour).

couldnt resist that - but what about a sub to his favourite music mag or a download facility for muzak.....

Voucher for concert tickets of his choice?

Try and engineer a teach in session with a fav musician....sort of masterclass. Means contacting the musician's publicist (start with their web site)

i should say, he doesn't mind second hand stuff. His Ml was from ebay and he loves it.
I don't know much about guitars, but know he doesn't like bolt on necks. Also he's very tall - about 6ft 3", and has difficulty getting long guitar straps. We tried to find him a white leather one to go with his dean, for his last birthday, but they were all a bit 'village people'!
So maybe I could get one made - but where?

i didn't know they did that, DT Ill look into that.
This is my favourite blues/overdrive pedal: http://www.google.co....4WtAg&ved=0CFcQ8wIwAw

It's possible, depending on what kind metal he is playing that it would get a bit "lost" in it all however.

This is also pretty cool: http://www.ebay.co.uk...2d3d837#ht_500wt_1156 he'd like the octave jump and distortion settings on this I reckon.
I reccomend a year's subscription to Guitar Buyer Magazine -

http://www.guitarbuyermagazine.com/

there is a 'Subscribe' link from this front page. You should make sure yoou get him the current issue - as shown here - the interview with the guitar player from Pendulum is particularly fabulous reading - I know - I wrote it!!!
