Why have Radio 1 done away with great acts like Mark and Lard, and brought in rubbish like Vernon Kay, and J K and Joel. These people just do not have any personality whatsoever. Although i have to admit to quite liking Colin and Edith now.

Are the BBC trying to serve us bland through every medium???

personally i like the new guys you are dissing !

mark and lard became boring and formulaic

I thought Mark and Lard were strange.  I dont know about JK and Joel, but i like Vernon Kay, Colin and Edith and Chris Moyles and co.

And i'm outside of the 15-25 age bracket!

I turned off after Mark and Lard went.

CAn't stand that Chris Moyles and 'Comedy Dave'. Should be done under the Trade Descriptions Act.

Radio 1 and it's "yoof" presenters get on my nipple ends (fat moyles being the ultimate in unfunny funny guys), with the exception of Spooney of a weekend morning.  But if Radio 2 had good early morning weekend DJs on, I'd probably not listen to him either.   I'm 34 by the way, so again, not caring about R1 and not being a target listener.  Long live Radio 2!!  Andy - who is JWs mystery voice just now?  Any ideas???  Been driving me mad since Stuart Maconi started it off in Jan.
Mark Radcliffe now on R 2 , finishes at midnight.
worth tuning in to.
zane lowe, zane lowe, zane lowe.

Can't agree more on the Moyles and "Comedy" Dave answer, i mean, when was the last time he said anything remotely funny???

the awful thing is this....

is radio 2 getting much better or is it just that im now moving into their age range(im 36 btw) !?

I stopped listening regularly after Mark and Lard left but my main gripe is that the station tries to cover all kinds of music but ends up with a horribly diluted mix. Anyone who actually cares what they listen to doesn't want to listen to a cool rock/rap track sandwidged between Girls Aloud and this summer's Europop anthem.

Their Newsbeat also makes me cringe - dumbed down condescending version of grown up news but exactly the same agenda. So I agree the BBC are serving bland through every medium including music and presenters.

A combination of Mark and Lard's departure and of course the sad, untimely death of John Peel has finally ended my Radio 1 listening days, which had long been petering out anyway (I'm 36). Cannot stand Chris Moyles!

Actually, I don't listen to much radio at all now - which means I run the risk of missing out on good new music. I do listen to Radio 2 from time to time, and occasionally a bit of 6Music (yes, I'm the other listener).

I have been known to watch Zane Lowe's programmes on MTV2, but don't listen to him on the radio. I like (most of) his kind of music but find him far too smart-a*se for his own good - kind of like Jonathan Ross in Kiwi form.
