question for Andy Hughes!
Are you there Andy?
I wondered if you could help me. I have found a gift for my son's 18th. We have decided on the Schecter Hellcat V1:

After looking through some oldish forums, it seems tricky to get a gase for these, as they are longer than a guitar but not as long as a bass!
Would have any idea, as to where to look?
I would rather buy a cheaper, un-named case, so as not to shout 'nick me i'm a schecter!'

It would appear from your post that you have aquired an already-played model for your (seriously lucky - do you want to b my mum!!!) son.
My suggeestion would be to enquire with your local guitar emporium, and quote them the exact measurements, and see what they can advise.
You will probably struggle to get an exact fitting case that is not branded, so it may mean buying a larger case and getting a little modification to fit the Schecter in safely.
Again, your local guitar shop may be able to assist, and if not, most of them have contacts with local luthiers, and it should be quick and inexpensive to have some modifications made.
It is worth it - a well-protected instrument looks better, sounds better, and keeps its resale value.
Hope this helps - if you need any more advice, please re-post and I will contact my experts in this field for some names and contact details for you.

do you think it's a good choice then? It is a new one though.
I'll see what the local shop says, but he advised Thomann for his BC Rich.
I toyed with this for a while, have you seen them? :

Hi - sorry it's taken so long to get back to you - pressure of work (!)
I think the Schecter is a very nice choice, and if you have bought new, I hope your son apreciates the investment.
I am a bit old-school when it comes to guitar design. I think a guitar that looks like something from another planet is fine, if that's the kind of band you play with, so that model would like fine in Kiss, less so in a traditional blues band.
To be honest, that sort of design suits the 'star' player who has several of every standard model, and is looking for something a little outrageous. For a young musician just starting out, it looks a bit flash, and it may infer promises of technique and image that your son is not able to deliver just yet.
Hope this helps.
