best albums

I was watching the 'best albums ever' on channel4 on sunday nite. they had radiohead at number1,  i dont think radiohead should be at number1. i think it should of being the beatles, u2, oasis or nirvana. What do think?

Dude, that program was messed up. And the people who voted radiohead as best album, are either deaf, or where bribed to say so.

there must be like. 1 Radiohead per 10,000 oasis fans.
the reason Oasis, the Beatles or u2 weren�t at no.1 was because they have not made music that is quite so great or boundary pushing. they are 5 enormously talented individuals.
they are always progressing and evolving their sound.
just because they don�t appeal to the main stream doesn�t mean they haven�t produced one of if no the best album of the last century. The fact OK computer was seen as the greatest album is a triumph for music, it�s good to see that it�s a real choice of music fans and not of some pathetic fad.
I�m not saying if you don�t like Radiohead there is something wrong with you, and I wouldn�t expect anyone to say the opposite. Music is very subjective and many would have had another top album. But OK computer really was a critical album for many, radiohead pushed new ground and in 94 (I think) when it came out it was way ahead of oasis and blur and the such like.
U2 might have done some anthems and Oasis may have made a generation pick up guitars but did they really push music? I�m not so sure they did. I see new things in OK com� every time I listen to it, and Pablo honey differs so much from Hail to the Thief. But how far have Oasis come from Defiantly maybe? 
But then as I said it�s all subjective, a lot might think the streets should have been in the top spot.

As Radiohead are offically the second biggest crowd-drawing band in the world at the moment (After U2), then it's highly probable that they would be No.1
Personally, I would have had Bjork - Debut at No.1, but I'm not the general public.
Its not as if Channel 4 influenced the vote by saying "Right, you can have a pick of either this, this or this." They just said "What do you think's the best album?"
Isn't that what a public vote is about?

There's another obvious point.

You could argue that The Beatles, U2 and Oasis are their own worst enemies because they've all released more than one classic album.

As much as people might admire The Bends or Kid A, it will always be OK Computer that gets Radiohead fans votes.

The answer - only release one great album and then make loads of weird ones that no-one plays more than twice.

It's all about personal taste, but I thought it was a pretty good list in a pretty fair order. If I could only own 50 albums I wouldn't mind owning those top 50. The glaring exception is the inclusion of a Duran Duran record which stands out from the rest of the list like a turd in a fruitbowl.

I agree with Andy Hughes (again) although im my opinion Radiohead deserved it. I was just pleased to see it was all real music in there.
