Why does my clockwork metronome speed up until the pendulum hits the stops? The weight is not moving after being set.The make is a Wittner pyramid.

Rojash thinks that this is a wind up!But thanks anyway Rojash,being a qualified electonics engineer i do know of the other sort but this one has sentimental value.
