Can anyone tell me exactly what a Hollaback Girl is? And why is it so bad to be one?

As far as I know (and people obviously have different views on this) the song is about someone spreading rumours, it's an attitude song and Gwen is saying that she won't "holla"..(as in shout or say)...anything back but will basically beat the other person up.....lol. Imagine...say.....at high school if someone shouted across the play ground a nasty comment or mentioned a rumour about you, alot of people would shout an insult back and the insult tennis begins...... Well she's saying she won't go in for that and instead will get physically violent..

Some people say it's a song about an ex and others say its about her high school years and the grief she received off cheerleaders and the "in" crowd because she was different!
