There are so many 'experts' on the subject of Music on here, am curious as to why I've never come across any of you at the UK Music Quiz championships. Surely if you have such a knowledge on a subject then you would want to test yourself against the best music brains in the UK. Commencing in March, this team event brings together players from as far north as Edinburgh and far south as London in a knockout tournament featuring Pop Music from all decades. There are many prizes up for grabs but the fact that you've played against a Neil Barker, Dave Bastable, Jon Kutner or Steve Burdin is worth the entry alone. There must be some 'Answerbankers' who can hold their own, surely?

Try me with 3 sample questions and I'll see whether I'm close to being a worthy participant
Question Author
1. Which grougs 3 UK No 1 hits of the 70s were sung by 3 different lead singers?
2. Who is the only Lebanese born act to top the UK singles chart.
3. The 4 words of a 1972 top 10 hit single subsequently became 4 different UK chart hit titles in 1985, 1983, 1977 and 1975 respectively, what's the title?
Good luck Factor30
Question Author
Sorry, no 1 should read; Which group's?
For 3 do you mean they all shared the same 4 words, or do you mean the first word was a one word title of one song, the next was another one word title, and so on
Question Author
Yes, no 3 is, the first was a one word title, the second another one word etc..
I'm still thinking and will get there in the end (without Googling or using Guiness Book of hit singles) but I'm too slow. I'm much better on teh "who sang...." type questions or identifying a year or identifying a tune within 2 seconds
2 Is Mika (an "educated" guess but I did google to confirm it)

Gawd knows on the others, where's MarkRae when he's needed :)
I'd need a small clue for numbers 1 and 3 I'm afraid.
For example what years were the 1970s number ones?
Question Author
At these major quizzes you are tested on all those things, pictures, lyrics, buzzers, connections, years, intros, outros. Questions like who sang? occasionally get asked but don't really test these guys and gals unless they are about songs outside the top 40.
And can you give me one of the one word top ten singles (I can think of some such as Mississipi, Dynamite, Blockbuster, Go, Chiquitita, Remember etc etc but can't fit them to a 1972 hit)
Question Author
At least you're having a go Factor, that shows you are interested and would probably take part for the fun element alone. You are right with Mika for no 2, if I gave you the years for no 1 it would give it away but I will say they were 3 different years and one is 1973.
Question Author
OK, one of the words is 'Gold'
No Brotherhood of Man then?
Question Author
No not Brotherhood of Man, they did have 3 but the singers weren't different on lead.
Okay- were the other number ones after 1973 or before or one of each?
t rex solid gold easy action ?
Solid- ashford and simpson?
Gold- spandeau ballet
Easy-Commodores
Action-Sweet
Question Author
Bigbadmarty sneaks in with the correct answer to no 3, very well done
Question Author
Yes Factor that's it! Excellent, now you need no 1.
I can think of a few groups who had around 3 number ones including one in 1973 but not with different singers and I know lots of groups that varied their singers (Darts, Showaddywaddy, Abba, Osmonds, ) but didn't have 3 number ones.
A tiny clue please? I know I'm not good enough but i enjoy taking part
