Tom Petty!!!
46 Answers
At last! Tom Petty And The heartbreakers are playing a London show in June, and I am down to interview him and Milke Campbell.
I can't wait - I bought his first album the week it was out, and saw him as the support act on Nils Lofgren's tour, and never got to see the band since.
I am so excited - anyone else a fan?

One of the best gigs I ever saw - after a brilliant set from Tom Petty there was definitely an air at half-time of "Lofgren's going to have to go some to beat that" - which he did - even after all this time I can remember the buzz as he hit the chords for "Keith Don't Go".
I was writing reviews for a Birmingham listings magazine at the time (unpaid - but at least an occasional free ticket) and blagged a backstage pass after the show - didn't get to speak to Mr Petty but Nils was a lovely bloke (for all of my five minutes ;)
But don't start me on "backstage at the Odeon" - I still get flashbacks of ten minutes with Lou Reed around the same era - what a scary man :+()

sunny-dave - i saw the show at Trentham Gardens, here in Stoke, and as you say, there was definitely a vibe about the sheer power of the heartbreakers, and the need for NL to up his game - which of course he duly did! the time when Nils and his brother Tom were soloing, and played each other's lead lines on each others guitar was mind-bending, what a night!
Hi TheOtherHalf - I will be interviewing TP and Mike Campbell because I write for music magazines as a freelance.
On this occasion, time permitting, I will be interviewing for Guitar Buyer Magazine* please feel free to check out this superlative mag - I have material in most months.
Next month should have my interview with Orianthi - guitarist for Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper.
*Other guitar magazines are available but nowhere near as good because I am not in them!!!
