I think the fact that Liam stopped singing half way through every line and his voice could still be heard would maybe indicate they were not singing live. I thought fatherhood would have calmed him down, but he still seems to be strutting about like a prize @rse.
the 'unknown band' were called maximo park  and there song was called graffiti
thought all groups mimed on top of pops they all did when i last watch it
Yes they did mime which was a suprise and a shame. Even though about 90% of the show is mimed there are still bands who make the effort and play live and it is so much better. The ironic thing with Oasis is that they performed the new song live on Jonathan Ross only the week before ? It was obvious as Noel isnt a great guitar player and he struggled with the solo but at least he had a go live. Maybe they couldnt be bothered for TOTP?? Who knows!

Oasis recorded some live songs for Top of the Pops around the time of the last album (i think they did Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird and My Generation) and TOTP managed to **** up the sound so badly that Oasis vowed never to play live on the show again.

I guess they got roped into appearing on it and just mimed in protest. To be honest, when i wanted to watch Oasis live, i bought a ticket to a gig!

Whats the point in playing live to a bunch of kids who would rather hold their lighters in the air and sway to R Kelly
