They don't exaggerate their accents whatsoever when singing. They simply sing the way they speak...

That's why I like them because they exaggerate their accent! I absolutely loved their earlier songs because of that (and I'm not Scottish!).

I have heard them talk in the past ( interviews etc ) and they are very Scottish indeed.

They were interviewed on the Paul O'Grady teatime show a few years ago. They picked up almost straightaway that he knew nothing whatsoever about them apart from "Letter from America", and delighted in making him squirm. It was hilarious... :-)

MarkRae - as you know, the vast majroty of singers with a strong accent, loose it when they sing.

Look at Van Morrison who has a Belfast accent you could ride a bus across when he speaks - not a trace in his singing voice.

I have no problem with artists adding their accent in if they wish, I just think it is a concious decision to do so.

Indeed, but to suggest that they are exaggerating their accent in some is clearly nonsense. They simply sing the way they speak.

Do Americans and Australians for example not sound American and Australian when they sing? Rather than them emphasising their accents maybe they are not trying to modify it.
