Hello!

Can anyone tell me who sang the song "Someone's left the cake out in the rain...". I remember it was a song I used to hear back in the seventies (I was about 7), when I didn't understand or speak English (I'm French) and I only became aware of the meaning of this line a very long time after. Was it  part of a musical ?

MacArthur Park by Donna Summer (although other people have done versions).

I wouldn't worry about not getting the double meanings - I only realised what it was on about when I was 18 and I'm English!

My first post! Pleased to meet you all. :o)

I'm in the music business, and littleoldme has got it all right. No-one knows what it's all about (does Jim Webb?), but I've sung this song soooh many times, and there's something in the lyrics that really gives the singer a *wham*. It's a real pleasure to perform it.

As long as you enjoy it, that's great. As a songwriter, I wish I'd written it!
