is it that Sir Tom is 'The Voice'?
Not on this he's not - this song is utterly Cohen's - and the 'golden voice' is ironic in his case, which fits the dark humour of the story.
This is just Tom doing what he always does - making it a 'Tom Jones' song, and they all sound alike.
Tom's cod-gospel style is utterly mannered and does not fit here at all.
Pointless.

We'll have to agree to disagree there Lottie.
I have always loved LC's whole appeal - his writing, his voice, and the fact that each utterly compliments the other.
I have never liked TJ - i find him, as I said, mannered, and lacking in range - but I know millions love him.
So we can adopt the approach of civilised adults and each enjoy our own artist and respect the other's choice.
EXCEPT I'M RIGHT AND YOU ARE WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xx
