There are many strands of reggae, from Ska, Lovers' Rock, Roots, Toasters, Dance Hall, Dub etc.
Depends what you're looking for really but pesonally I would say Barrington Levy, Jah Cure, Luciano, John Holt, Sizzlah, Bounty Killah, Peter Tosh, Capleton, Elephant Man for funkiness.
I'm loving Jah Cure at the moment, if you can then down load the following tracks that I have in my stereo at the mo (oldies but goodies) and if you like them then you'll love the others:
Here I come (Broader than Broadway) - Barrington Levy
Too experienced - Barrington Levy (not the Ms Dynmite version)
REGGAE TOP TEN - Nicked from the Robert Elms page on the BBC Radio London website. A good primer! I've also found the staff in specialist Reggae record shops incredibly helpful and non-patronising over the years!
