I've heard this great tune a few times on Olympics programmes- e.g. when David Beckham was bringing the torch by boat to the Opening Ceremony) and thought it was Pulp but I had a look today and it's by David Holmes.
This isn't a question really- i just wanted to share it in case others were wondering what the music is.

Yes, if I hadn't been told I would never have guessed it was Underworld- it's miles away from their Born Slippy (lager, lager, lager...) stuff. It sounds a bit like Fleet Foxes to me.

I see Mike Oldfield is back near the top of the album charts after the opening ceremony
so he should be factor, I'd forgotten how great (and innovative) tubular bells was. I'm tempted to get that new album.
Mike Oldfield: 'I'd never heard of Arctic Monkeys before the Olympics'

Silly old codger.
Before the Olympics Mike Oldfield had never heard of Dizzee Rascal...........that means he's weird but cool.
Tubular bells irritated the hell out of me ... who the flump wants to be told someone is using a Fluffing glockenspiel during the song?
It was best enjoyed with a little help.
Question Author
I listened to loads of music and bought loads of albums and singles at around the time of Tubular Bells but for some reason I never listened to that album, although I heard excepts from time to time. For some reason I just never fancied it.
However, if the music used in the National Health section of the opening ceremony was Tubular Bells (I think it was), then that sounded good and I'm going to listen to the full album over the next few days.
But I won't be using 'a little help' Prudie, apart from maybe a glass of wine
I'm listening to it now, Factor. The last time I listened to it was around 1994 ....up to now my opinion of it has not changed
Question Author
I'm just 3 minutes into it and so far it's just the familiar pleasant but unexciting bit that was used for the Tubular Bells single and a film (The Exorcist?)
I am listening on spotify ....the 2003 version.
Has the "Master of Ceremonies" been removed?
Factor how could you possibly not have listened to it at least once?
Having said that I've never had the nerve to watch The Exorcist.
Question Author
Sorry, I wouldn't know as this is the first time I've listened to the album.
I'm listening to just side 1 (this version).
So far I'm up to 12 mins and it is still pleasant/bland but I haven't heard the bit played at The Opening Ceremony yet

reed and pipe organ ....... Glockenspiel ....

mad as a box of frogs.

Double speed guitar (he says in a rather surprised voice)
I'm finding it hard work now ........ and getting abuse from peeps in earshot.
Question Author
I'm on side 2 now- I'm on 37 minutes ( I did fast forward through the last two minutes of side 1).
I'll stick it out

There’s an Anchor sign on Britain’s favourite butter,
It’s the Anchor sign that tells you it’s the best.
If you like your bread and butter there’s no other word you’ll utter
’Cos you’ll always want the butter with the Anchor sign!
Question Author
Is that the Blue Peter (Sailor's Hornpipe) bit? I remember that was released as a single
Question Author
Side 2 finished so quickly (maybe I fell asleep) I can't remember it so I'm listening again.

Ooops, my mind had started wandering. Didn't quite work did it.

Overall the album is okay and I'll listen again, but the bit from the 'NHS bouncing on beds scene' hasn't been on. Maybe that wasn't Mike Oldfield
