Ceremony Music

Hey, I need some suggestions on what kind of music (live) to have at my wedding ceremony (registry) e.g. Harpist (but i am not keen on harpist at all)
Any other ideas please???

We selected our own music on CD - it was quite an ecletic range for different parts of the ceremony - and the registrar pressed the button at the appropriate time.

We then had a harpist playing throughout the meal afterwards.

We do have alot of songs but I dont want a CD player. Im looking for live music and just dont know what to have. And also where to find them.

Depends also where you are getting married, and what capacity there is in the location for live music. Some register offices may not have a live music licence - you'd need to check.

I obviously have checked. Im not talking about a whole band or orchestra. Something like Harpist the usual music in the background.

For a formal wedding it would be hard to beat a string quartet.

That's true Chris, we've had a string quartet at some formal events at work - they don't take up much room!

@boxtops - Acoustic guitar sounds great, but very hard to find.
@buenchico - String quartet way too expensive.

eyesh, do you have a local music school or a college which teaches music? That's how we found our string quartet for work - they didn't charge that much (and have since turned professional!)

Any decent university music department could supply a string quartet, made up of talented young musicians trained to top professional standards, for around the same figure as a pub pays for a band.

That's my idea too chris - it wouldn't be difficult to find a good acoustic guitarist.
