Peggy (not 'Piggy'!) Sue was a Buddy Holly original, I think... It was written by him and two of the Crickets.

This reminds me that there is an amusing pay-off at the end of one episode of the Tv series "Quantum Leap" when the time-traveller Sam Beckett happens to meet a young Buddy Holly and persuades him that Buddy's ode to a favourite animal, Piggy Suey, might benefit from a couple of minor changes...

Buddy Holly was the orginal singer of PEGGY (!) Sue. This was back in the late 1950's (1957 I think) It was a million seller and climed to number 5 in the UK charts and number 3 in the US. It was his first solo single. Thats all I can remember of the top of my head!! (And that's coming from a 15-year-old!!)
