Hi all
I been having an online discussion
I had it in my head somewhere that the carpenters were secretly man and wife
Just looked on google and they were brother and sister
So does anyone know which other duo were actually married but pretended not to be ????! Or is the carpenters thing one off them urban myths ??

Does anyone remember The Rolling Stones at No1 in 1966 with 'Nineteenth Nervous Breakdown'?

In some southern states being married and being brother and sister are not always mutually exclusive situations.

I think I'm thinking of an older couple same era as the carpenters

The singer Bobby Darin had an older sister who was rather "crass" and he did not like her as she embarrsed him.

She always tried to get tickets for his concerts and she would sit at the front and scream out how she was related to him.

After a few years (when Kennedy was assasinated) Bobby Darin said he wanted to go into politics.

Realising this would mean people delving into his private life his "sister" went to him and told him she was actualy his mother.

She had had him when she was about 15 and he had been brought up by HER mother (who was in fact Bobby Darin's grandmother).

Not quite in line with the question but still a rather strange situation.

Bobby Darin was 32 when he found out his "sister" was really his mother. He died in 1973, age 37. The following year Jack Nicholson was 37 when he discovered (courtesy of a Time Magazine journalist) the truth about his own "sister".
