Bass 'dipping' In Modern Music.
3 Answers
Here's a weird one, is anyone else driven mad by the modern music 'dip' where the bass note/kick drum should be ?
It's on the music for some advert at the moment and it drives me MAAAAD.
I assume it's some way to allow nasty cheap stereos sound good ?

If it's the ad on factor's link, I can only assume you mean the rhythmic phasing effect in the middle rather than the bass area. I don't like it either because it gives me a headache if I listen to it for too long (but then I'm an old f*rt anyway). I think it's a style more designed to create the trance-inducing/hypnotic effect you hear in some clubs. Rather than being a way of making a poor quality sound system sound better, a poor system would be likely to make it worse. On the contrary I'm sure fans of this type of music would find it much enhanced by a good system.
