Have just bought a car with a Cd player in and want to compile some CDs for listening whilst driving on my own.  Any suggestions welcome,(apart from heavy metal or country).  Ta

On a warm sunny day try 'Summer Breeze' - Isley Brothers.

Good one BDW, sweet days in summer the jasmine's in bloom, July is dressed up and playing her tune...........:)
One of those 'hair standing up on back of your neck' tracks. 'Summer Madness' by Kool and the Gang's another good one.

a good one is 'song 2' by blur...

Why not compile a 'sing-a-long' CD with all the tracks that you love to sing along with (one on mine would be 'Gonna Make You a Star' by David Essex!)

how about:

Islands in the stream by dolly parton & kenny rodgers

ace of spades by moterhead

seriously tho, you can get driving cd's on amazon

jim

My favourite is "Sunflower " by Paul Weller, a brilliant driving song

Have fun compiling

Neil

spin doctors - 2 princes

thanks for the recent answers.  chris linked me to a site earlier which lists chart records for each month and year so i'm also looking through the summer months to see what was out then.  Just been listening to Here comes the summer by The Undertones :)
If you're on the way to work on a morning and wish you weren't because it's sunny, play Here Comes The Sun by the Beatles. Cheers people up no end that song!
Otis reading -Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay.
Graham Coxon - Right To Pop.
The Hives- Hate To Say I Told You So.
Bluetones- slight return.
The Vipers-Turning Japanese.
The Only Ones-Another Girl Another Planet.
Oh why did I get started on this? I better stop now...I really could go on for ever.

How about these:

Ocean Drive 3:48 Lighthouse Family
Drive 4:16 Jon Bon Jovi
Drive 4:02 Scorpions
Sex Drive 5:12 Paul Oakenfold (Bjork)
Truck Driven Man 2:02 Savoy Brown
Drive 3:57 Cars

surely a good sing-a-long driving song is bohemian rhapsody (please forgive the spelling) by queen is a must
Wasn't 'Turning Japanese' by the Vapors? A song with extremely dubious subject matter.

My favourite is 'Born to Run' by Bruce Springsteen.
Yes Tim123, Turning Japanese,I believe, was about erm...how do I put this...pleasuring one's self. Lets leave it at that. lol
wow some excellent tunes been given here!

hope i can manage to keep that going!

starry eyed suprise - paul oakenfold
amy stewart - knock on wood

gary numan - cars

GAH! i could go on forever with a mix of both old classics and new beats.......... sorry to hog the thread!

Heavy rock & Alternative music are generally the best songs to listen to in a car.. here are a few good driving songs..

Born to run - Bruce Springstein

Bad to the bone - Georgge Thoroughgood

Big Log - Robert Plant

Hotel California - Eagles

Life in the fast lane - Eagles

More than a feeling - Boston

29 Palms - Robert Plant

You ain't seen nothing yet - Bachman Turner Overdrive

Time passages - Al Stewart

Year of the cat - Al Stewart

Johnny & Mary - Robert Palmer

Every kind of People - Robert Palmer

Legs - ZZ Top

or if you want to slow things down a lot, try..

Mocking bird - Barclay James Harvest

This list could go on forever.. personally I rarely have music on in the car.. I listen to the deep throat music produced from my 5 Litre V8 Chevy engine !!

I always thought dancing in the moonlight by toploader was a song that reminds me of summer
