Who Cares Anymore?
Does anyone care, or even know without looking it up, who's number one in the charts these days? When I were a lad it was so exciting hearing the chart rundown every week. Mi even used to write it down as fast as I could!

And yes, i still look at the charts each Sunday night. It was Blurred Lines at number 1, then that was knocked off top spot by Icona Pop then John Newman, then Blurred Lines returned again. It was replaced this week by Avicii.

I must admit that I wouldn't recognise all of them- I probably know 25 out of the top 30. Some records do seem to get to number one now though with hardly any airplay (and probably very few sales)

Nope, haven't a clue. It used to matter VERY much when I was a teenager. One just HAD to know what was number one at all times. I listened to Radio Lux. although it wasn't always easy to get in Edinburgh on my little tinny transistor kept under the bedclothes so as not to keep others awake. It was always an exciting highlight of my week to listen to the top 20 chart. Now, I've never even heard of most of the singers/bands.... and what's more, I don't even care. ! .. and that's something I thought I'd NEVER say. Ah, whatever happened to that nice young lass.. that Vera Lynn girl?
Don't you still listen to music, JJ? I pictured you as someone who still went to trendy clubs.
(Incidentally, on that other Q&A site I referred to the other day someone was suggesting you -under another name on here- do have a deep interest in music, particularly music used in advert and trailer tunes. Strange but true.)
