What is the mystery behind 2pac's death, is it true that he was assasinated?

Shrouded in conspiracy this one. There is a good documentary called Biggie and Tupac by Nick Broomfield which highlights the rivalry between the East and West Coast rappers in the US, and sheds some light on evidence that suggests the LAPD deliberately botched the case to hide connections between the police, LA gangs and Death Row Records, the record label run by Marion "Suge" Knight

I'm really not sure he's famous enough to warrant it being "assasinated".  Mind you - in the world of music I suppose he might be. 

Some would apparently claim that he isn't really dead!!!

Loosley..He attended a Tyson fight one Friday Night...met up with a guy he knew before who had been robbed...The guy who`d been robbed also saw at the fight, members of the gang that actually robbed him and a fight ensued...It was caught on cctv.  Tupac and his friend Surge left and went to drive to his Surge`s party.  He was a passenger in the front seat.  They came to some traffic lights and stopped.  A cadillac drew up beside and a gun was fired, shooting Tupac 3 times.  He dies 6 days later in hospital.  More than 40 people were shot in the aftermath of Tupac`s shooting in retaliation.
