It would be wonderful if our favourite musicians were frozen in aspic, to remain exactly the same as they are when we discovered them.
But Lisa Stansfield unleashed her peerless voice when she was only fourteen, and now she is forty-seven - we all get older a day at a time.
So should musicians release a couple of albums, and then stop?
Or should they be allowed to mature like the rest of us - carry on doing the best work they can, and people can take it or leave it?
Obviously, I think the secnd is true - and I really like her latest single, and would argue that her voice has simply matured (along with the rest of her - and us!) and it's not fair to write her off.
